Once you fight Cart Dogs in Gothic Cathedrals and face Eldritch horrors in other dimensions, it's hard to go through levels with some dudes in caves and sewers. When you get done with chapter 3 some of the previous chapters feel less exciting. ![]() Some levels are so good it's hard for the others to compare. You would get shown more of the world and story but then the next level has you in a cave or a place you feel like you have seen before without pushing the story or gameplay loop further. The sandbox is super tight and balanced to what weapons are available but I think 1 or two more weapons would have been fun maybe with some kind of gimmick or even temporary usage like a power up. I would have liked more variety in the weapons. It would be nice to have something to look forward to. In some of the chapters the progression feels off and you get all the weapons in the game early. The game really feels like a passion project and a lot of care was put into making it.Ĭons-(These are mostly nitpicks and it's pretty hard to find things that really detract from the experience) You can change the color palate of the whole game! You can also change how pixelated the graphics are too! The game has amazing UI and graphic customization. Level design offers great combat arenas, secret areas to explore and exploits for replays. Sound design is top notch and rivals even higher production games. Enemy design is varied and creative and offer fun and engaging combat. Nostalgic yet distinct atmosphere and setting with an interesting story. Fluid and responsive gameplay and movement. The gold standard for Boomer-Shooters and Retro FPS.
